Summer Night Dream – Shavuot with The Kitchen, Beth Sholom & The JCC

Thursday, May 25, 2023 5 Sivan 5783

7:00 PM - 10:45 PMCongregation Beth Sholom

Join us as we partner with Congregation Beth Sholom and The JCC for an evening of late night study, piyyutim sung outside, a (light) summer feast and cheesecake for the whole community! Full program details below.

The holiday of Shavuot marks the moment Torah, a sacred scroll of divine teachings, was received by the Jewish people on Mount Sinai. Today we honor the Shavuot traditions of gathering in community to celebrate learning and discussion as a way to discover together and seek new truths. The customs associated with the holiday include a tikkun leyl Shavuot (Jewish mystical tradition of staying up all night studying Torah), eating dairy products and a public reading of the Biblical Book of Ruth.
